Ladan Osman is a first-generation Somali-American. She is a poet, teacher, and translator who lives in Chicago. Ladan holds a BA at Otterbein College and an MFA at the University of Texas at Austin’s Michener Center for Writers. Her publications include a chapbook, Ordinary Heaven and a poetry collection, The Kitchen-Dweller’s Testimony, which won the Sillerman First Book Prize.

Ladan translated the Declaration of Unity into Somali.
